About Samuel Francis Ruder, MD
My clinical practice focuses on helping patients navigate complex diagnoses with clarity, compassion, and individualized treatment strategies. As a medical oncologist, I chose to specialize in prostate cancer because it is a field where cutting-edge science meets deeply personal cancer care. I am especially passionate about developing and advancing prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) targeted radioligand therapies and molecular imaging tools that can offer more targeted, less toxic options for men with advanced prostate cancer. As a hematologist, I also care for patients with benign blood disorders and manage the hematologic side effects of cancer and its treatments. My goal is to bridge clinical care with innovative research, so that every patient I see benefits from the progress we’re making in the lab and in clinical trials.
Dr. Samuel Ruder is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist based in New York City with specialized expertise in caring for patients with prostate cancer and other genitourinary (GU) malignancies, including kidney cancer, bladder cancer and testicular cancer, as well as those with non-malignant blood disorders. Dr. Ruder earned his medical degree from the University of Texas McGovern Medical School, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for scholarly excellence. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and his hematology/oncology fellowship at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Ruder is nationally recognized for his research in radioligand therapy (RLT), molecular PET imaging, and novel treatments for advanced and neuroendocrine prostate cancers. Dr. Ruder is a recipient of the 2024 ASCO Conquer Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award. He is actively involved in clinical trials and translational research, aiming to bring cutting-edge, targeted therapies to patients. Dr. Ruder sees patients at both Lower Manhattan Hospital and on the Upper East Side, where he is dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based care.
